psl 2018

Pakistan Super League is in final stages of group matches. The event has attracted huge fan following and becoming really beneficial for the team. With eliminators approaching, everyone is confused and eagerly waiting for the results of the remaining matches to find the final four that will reach the eliminators. The league comprises of six teams; Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars.

Here, we will have a look at how and which teams can qualify for the eliminators. Currently, the team standings is given below:

PSL Standings on 12-March-2018

Quetta Gladiators:

Quetta Gladiators currently have a 3 match winning streak and are sitting at the top of the table with 2 more games to play. They have one game each against Lahore and Islamabad. With Lahore Qalandars out of contention, and Peshawar only having two games. The best Peshawar can reach is 10 points. So, Quetta will have to win at least one out of two to qualify for eliminators. Even if they lose both, they can still get in last four on basis of net run rate.

Quetta Gladiators

  • Win one of their last two games.
  • Multan loses it’s last game, or karachi loses both it’s remaining games or peshawar loses one out of 2.

Islamabad United:

Islamabad have been most dominant team in this year’s PSL. United have won 5 and lost just 2 games. Misbah’s men need to win 1 out of remaining three to get a place in eliminators. They don’t have a good net run rate, so they won’t be relying much on the run rate scenario. Islamabad has to play one game each against Karachi, Multan and Quetta. They will try to win 2 out of 3 to be a part of top two.

Islamabad United

  • Islamabad wins one out of remaining three games.
  • Multan loses it’s last game or peshawar loses one out of 2.

Karachi Kings:

Karachi started off with a bang this season winning three games in a row but since then they have lost 3 and won just 1 game. With their latest defeat against Lahore, Karachi now has to win at least 1 out of remaining 2 games to get to 11 points and secure eliminator position as Peshawar can get to highest 10 points.

Karachi Kings

  • Win one out of remaining two.
  • Multan loses it’s last game or peshawar loses one out of 2.

Multan Sultans:

The Sultans were table toppers not so long ago, however, they lost the track and now have lost 3 games in a row to sit at fourth position. They now need to win their last encounter against Islamabad United in order to qualify for eliminator safely. However, they can still go to final four if Peshawar loses one out of two, or Karachi loses both their games and get lower net run rate then Multan.

Multan Sultans

  • Win last game.
  • Either Peshawar loses one out of two, or Karachi loses both and get lower on net run rate.

Peshawar Zalmi:

Peshawar, the defending champions, have to play really well for last 2 matches that are against Lahore and Karachi. They have to win these and get better net run rate to end up in qualifiers. However, If Multan loses their final game, or Karachi loses both their remaining games, then Peshawar will get into final four without any issue of net run rate.

Peshawar Zalmi

  • Win both the remaining games.

Lahore Qalandars:

Qalandars started with 6 defeats in a row. They do not have any chance of qualifying for the eliminators, however, they have now won 2 games in a row and should play for pride now.
