Swiss star, Roger Federer, continued his supreme form in 2017 by lifting his 7th title of the year. He defeated Juan Del Potro in Basel final with scores of 6-7, 6-4 and 6-3.

The tennis star didn’t look in best shape in the first set. The first set started with an early break over Del Potro, however, he could not capitalize on it and lost the set in tie breakers. Federer broke Del Potro twice, however he still missed the chance to seal the first set.

However, in 2nd set, Federer did improve his intensity and game and went on to win the other two sets easily. At start of 2nd set, he found himself thumping the net in frustration as he missed a backhand volley. However, he stood up well and went on to win the next 2 sets comprehensively.

Del Potro, on the other hand, played an exceptional game but could not get over the line. For once, Federer was pushed hard as Del Potro broke Federer’s serve thrice in the game.

Federer had a great week at Basel. He lost just two sets in the tournament with following scorelines.
